Default Honda Cd Changer With Aftermarket Radios

I have stock HU and CD Changer but would like to upgrade to aftermarket HU. I understand there are controls that will still allow the function of the left side mounted radio controls but can I still make use of the OEM cd changer?

most people i asked say no but I may have an idea. I am sure Honda does not manufacture that changer. Maybe kenwood, sony, or some aftermarket audio company. So would it be possible to get a radio that is made by the same manufacturer that makes the changer that honda suppplied in the car, and have the changer work with it?

Usually, the OEM will do something like add a proprietary connector or swap some wires around. Whatever you use to adapt the Honda changer to your HU, a cheap aftermarket changer cannot be all that much more expensive nor worse than the stock unit.

yea, branded changers are like <$150 now. You'll get the benefit of CD-text and even MP3 capability.

Back from the dead.

Okay, even though it's possible to get a cheaper (probably better) changer, the question still isn't answered, is there a module that will convert signals from an aftermarket head to an OEM changer? Splicing wires isn't an issue.

I've just installed a Pioneer DEH-P360 and have an OEM changer in the trunk that's feeling lonely. I don't mind doing a little work to get it working again. Hopefully you electro-gods have an answer!
