Honda security system
Ok maybe it is not the best but it keeps my warrenty intact.
My plan is to install it this weekend and I was curious if some of you did not install the disarm button that is drilled into the dash. It seems stupid to install a disarm switch. Am I missing something?

Got me. But I would guess you use the key open the door. Pop the engine compartment lever and replace the battery. I would guess the alarm system does not work if the battery is dead. Yes No?
So should I install the disarm switch. Maybe just find a better hidding spot?

He's talkin about the remote battery.... in the alarm transmitter.
Disarm switch in a kickass hiding spot is what you need to do... When I mount these switches most of the time you have to be almost double jointed just to get to the damn things... and forget about being able to see them.
You rarely use it so: If it's a pain in the *** for you to get to, and can't be seen or felt by any reasonable attempt (read: reasonable in a theives attempt to steal your car which means EXTENSIVE) then that's a good place for it, haha.

Thanks Doug, Beeeee the thief.....
I would think a thief has to chuckle when they break the glass get two horn blasts reach over and hit the disarm button. I would hope the key is a little tougher.

Well it's not so simple as just hitting the disarm button... it's an override, and you have to turn the key then hold the button (or in the better alarms press it a certain amount of times and then hold it in or other alarms have multiple buttons and some sort of combination)...

I have found mine invaluable when my flaky OEM security system fails to work.
I have to use the key to open the door, the alarm sounds, I quickly get inside and turn the key in the ignition while holding the disarm button in.
I have had to do this on my S2000 when the keyless system fails (5-10 times over the last five+ years) and on my Accord when the remote fob detached from the key (I didn't have the remote to unlock).
I think you really do need one. It's the only way to get the car to run if the remote transmitter OR alarm receiver goes on the blink. Your other choice would be to get the car towed.
It would suck to be stranded becuase you left out that component.
