Default Urgent help please

I think i flattened the battery by leaving the door ajar. When i tried to recharge in situ the alarm started and would stop - even when i disconnected the battery. Eventually it did. Now i've recharged the battery but when i connect it, the indicators just keep flashing and when i press unlock on the fob the alarm starts off again and won't stop till i disconnect. What do i do please, it's driving me crazy?

take the battery out and charge it, lock the car with the key if it's not garaged. When it's fully charged put it back in. You may need to do an ecu reset after but will stop the alarm problems

Thanks, i'm really grateful for the advice. Are you saying the car should be locked when i put the battery back in? I'd like to get it right because i don't want to spoil all my neighbours' sunday morning. The battery was not fully charged before - is that why i could not install it?

Charge the battery
Install the charged battery
The alarm will likely sound
Immediately blip keyfob to stop alarm sounding

What MY is it?

I would put the key in as well as blipping it

You could also wrap an old towel around the alarm horn

Thanks for the further suggestions.

About to try.

By 'blip' you mean 'unlock' on the standard two button fob?

It's 2003 - key in or out?

Where is the alarm horn please, i will certainly cover it if i know where it is.

Try the blipper, then try starting the car.

If the alarm is going off, open the bonnet (with some ear plugs.cotton wool in your ears) and you'll find the alarm horn easily enough. (It's a rectangular box-shaped item)

I have looked, it's just a wall of noise to me - could be coming from anywhere.

EDIT False alarm (ha ha). Battery just bolted in and everything seems to be working fine. Must have been too low still last time i tried. Thanks for the help.

Yep that's it. The voltage drop is seen as a disconnection thus triggering it

I had this problem.

Solved it by cutting the cable to the speaker horn. Instant silence... and no remote central locking.

Cue new alarm system.

Don't cut the wires. No matter how tempting it is.

Equally, don't go under the bonnet without hearing protection, that thing made me physically sick. Pavement pizza, the works.
