Default Horn chirp when arming alarm

I know this topic has been beaten to death a number of times, but I think I may have a different alarm and Im trying to turn off the feature that honks the horn when hitting the Lock button ONCE (NOT TWICE)

Last week I became the proud owner of an 05 Silverstone/Black...it came with an "OEM UPGRADE" Automate alarm that has a red LED light on the left side of the dash and a shock sensor under the dash. I guess it was dealer installed and came with its own little plastic brochure folder. Initially it was in valet mode and off (red LED constant), the instruction manual gave directions on how to exit valet mode and I did, but now everytime I Disarm I get 2 quick honks, and every time I arm I get a honk---delay--then another Honk. I dont want to annoy my neighbors and I dont want the whole world knowing when I come and go.

The system uses stock Honda Remotes---with trunk icon---not 'Option'
The instruction manual says it can be switched back and forth, but does not say HOW!!

Any help would be really appreciated. s2ki.com has been awesome so far! Thanks!

I am pretty sure if you hold the lock/unlock button down while holding the option or trunk button down for 2 seconds it should stop. I believe that is how it works on mine. Good Luck.

I think Ive tried that but Ill try again...I may have tried unlock and not lock or vice versa.

When do you hit the 2 buttons? After taking the key out of the ignition, door open... etc etc...

Thanks a lot for ur help.

On the factory alarm, you hold the lock button and the option button down for more than one second. That is supposed to toggle the confirmation beep off and on. You don't need the key in the ignition. The transmitter LED will flas once when the beep is turned on and flas twice when the confirmation beep is turned off. That is how my factory alarm works. I hope it works for you.

Its not factory its an Automate which is a DEI product. Turing off the the horn involves finding the valet switch and using it to program. You need to find the brain of the alarm to see what model number it is.

I tried looking for the brain of the Automate alarm...all I found was the shock sensor under the dash closer to the driver's door...I felt under the seat but didnt feel anything...i also tried going to turning the accessory then taking the key our and pushing the red valet button 2 and 3 times...didnt work...so frustrating...any ideas anyone?

The key has to stay in on position when your hitting the valet button, but if you dont know the model, you might be changing programing without you knowing as you hit the button.

Find a local DEI dealer and have them do it. They may charge you a few bucks, but at least you will know what model unit you have.

in order to shut the sound of when you press the lock button(once) you have to go into the programming of automate upgrade alarm...:
1.open a door
2.turn key on
3.turn key off
4.press and release valet switch 2 times and hold it on the third
you should hear 2 honks...
5.press Unlock on your remote (while holding the valet switch down)...
you should hear another two honks putting the alarm in silent mode, release the valet
switch and turn ignition on and back off.. this should correct your "honking" feature
