Hot interior = distortion?
To the audiophiles. I installed a set of 6.5 components this morning. Lanzar mx6c's actually. I know they are bargain priced components but they have pretty decent reviews. Anyway it was cool outside this morning so I installed them and everything was good. They sound pretty good. I dont have em amped yet and im assuming that is part of the problem. This afternoon i got back in the car and they sounded terrible. Only difference is that the interior of the car was hot as shit. Will the interior heat make the head unit more likely to or rather harder to power the componenets. I realize the crap ass sony headunit is anemic on power to begin with but the sound between this morning and afternoon was drastic.
Well after a few days I am convinced its the shitty head unit. Today I had to take the 6.5s back out to cut the stock speaker baskets to the rim because I just had them rigged in really crappy like (yes the stock speaker baskets can be cut far enough for 6.5s). Basically the connections were rechecked and everything was fine. Anyway, today it sounded ok during the day but the head unit has been acting wonkey anyway, like switching 2 songs at a time when hitting the button. It would distort when it got to about 35/50. Anyway tonight I went to walgreens to get some stuff, and I was blasting some music on my way back ( this song, which is perfect for testing any system). It sounded great up till about 45/50. I am pretty sure the head unit struggles when hot. Cant wait to get alpine hu and an amp hooked up.
