No, probably not. I suspect that the dealer orders the part and it is shipped to the dealer programmed for the milage the dealer requests for the car.

you've got to be kidding, right? so, you are telling me that every time someone needs to swap a broken cluster, they need to send it into Honda....? doesn't make much sense to me.
Nope, this is correct. I had to do that on my old Scion.

Technically, you're suppose to leave your car at the dealership while the cluster is sent to the factory.

In my case, the cluster itself was faulty. So I got it covered under warranty. I'm not sure what the cost was. If you already have the cluster, then it would just be whatever labor cost they charge to do it.

But really, this is the only way to do it...legally.

The consumer in me is very glad to hear that it ISN'T a trivial process to tamper with the mileage.

So how does this play into Qube Engineering's LED replacement kit? They have a core exchange process which leads me to believe I'll be getting back someone else's gauge cluster...

As I understand it, most people who swap clusters for whatever reason don't go through the effort to actually have their mileage modified. They just swap it and go with it.

When you sell the car, the title has a portion where you can indicate if the mileage on the odometer is not the true reading.
