let's say that i have a few mp3s on my hard drive that i want to burn

i've been reading that you can put 10 + hours of music on a standard cd but i am not sure how to do this. do i need to covert the mp3s to a wav file and then burn it??

If you leave the songs as MP3's, you will be able to load a large amount of songs onto a single CD. This is only of value if the deck you intend to play it on will play MP3's.

Does your Alpine play MP3 discs? How much time you can get onto the disk is dependant upon what quality the MP3's were ripped at.

Now, if your deck will not play MP3's then you could convert them back to .WAV files and they should play on a standard deck (I think ... may have to be .CDA's ... someone help me out here).

In this scenario you would lose the compression that you had and they would re-expand to CD audio size but still not have the resolution of uncompressed music (you lost that when they were ripped to MP3).

If you only have the songs on MP3 then yes, you can convert them to play on a standard CD deck but they will be much larger and you will lose the ability to load a shit load of them onto the CD.

Make sense?

I think you'll have to label each song... but maybe not... I just pop in the CD... I'll have to read up on it more though now that I got the 9835... course its just going to make me lazier than I am... oh great

I'm running around with an Alpine setup with an MP3 cd changer in the trunk. The changer is loaded with 6 cd's worth of MP3's. On average each cd has about 150 songs each on it. So yeah. Use nero or something and just burn a data cd of your mp3's. Then just pop it in and it should start playing. Also note that on alpine if you hit the 'title' button it should switch to a mode that displays the MP3's 'tag'. The 'tag' is the encoded description of what the MP3 is. Usually the song title/artist/album. That info should then scroll across the alpines screen.

Use musicmatch bro. Select MP3 cd. Easiest way to do it.

Alpines also read WMAs, so thatll be like 15-20 hours.
