Default How do I trigger the highbeams?

I need to trigger, with my alarm, the highbeams as my garage door opener is wired to them. The alarm gives off a 200mA (-) output. I looked at the wiring diagram for the highbeams and it looks like the pin 4 on the combination switch (red/blue) is connected to ground when the highbeams are on. However, the relays under the hood wouln't be closed. Therefore, I would need to connect the 7pin (blue/red) wire to ground as well correct?

So to recap with the alarm trigger I would need to connect both the red/blue and blue/red wire to ground in order to trigger the highbeams?

you could just not use the high beams and just wire the alarm directly to your opener.

just use a relay and your good to go if you want to go that route

Quite true, but I also need the opener to be connected to my highbeams anyway so that I can open and close it when I'm driving in the car.

easiest way is to tap into the output wire that the garage opener is attached to and send the signal out that way. do it under the hood vs under the dash and it will be easy

I'm still trying to figure out what you are trying to get accomplished. It appears that you are just wanting the high beams to flash when the alarm goes off but if so, when the alarm triggers in your driveway, won't the garage door go crazy?

Sorry let me clarify. My alarm has an accessory -200mA output which I want to hook up to the highbeams. This way when I'm ready to leave I can push the button, flash the highbeams, open the garage door and be on my way.
