How to get Better Signal On TV
I just installed a tv on the S with a dvd/tv tuner system. Dvd looks great but cant say too many positive things about the tv station quality. I have a tv antenna connected and it helps but not much... Is there anything I could do to help the signal.. I was thinking of installing the antenna somewhere it hits metal..
thanks
thanks
TV(VHF) and FM are in the same basic frequency range, so antenna size is going to be somewhat comparable (with TV being on the longer side). Imagine the typical antenna length for a car, then double it for a typical TV antenna.
For quality reception, you'll need an antenna with either really good gain or decent length (preferably both). The idea behind installing antennas on metal is to effectively double the apparent electrical length of the antenna... a 20" antenna installed above a large ground plane (i.e., the car's trunk) will make it appear as if it's a 40" antenna. This is good for pulling in those lower wavelength signals (like TV).
Since a TV antenna will become ungainly in size pretty quickly, your best bet is to find one that has a higher gain with a shorter length.
