Default How To: Hardwire A Radar Detector

2000-2009 Honda S2000 Radar Detector Hard wire Install

The best place to wire the radar up to is the power wire to the passenger window motor. I wired it up to the connector in the passenger kick panel.

(That thing in the middle is an xm antenna)

This way you can turn the radar off by pressing the window lock button on the driver

That is a great idea! I never thought of that when I installed my radar detector. I mounted mine right under the rear view mirror and ran the wire up into that panel behind the visor and down the A piller into the fuse box.

Works great but I would still have to reach up to turn it off, so you 1 Uped me! lol

nice write-up and i like the idea of tying into the power window lead for the stealth on/off.

if you're just get a power on with key on, i'm not sure about the newest AP2's, but there's no need to splice into car wiring. there's a lug in the fusebox that serves that purpose.

did you guys get the hardwire kit with the mute button, or just the cable?

I used velcro to attach the remote mute button just under the ac controls. It does not block the radio door.
