I'm running a simple (and low cost) system in my S.

HU: Alpine CDA-9857
Power wire: 8ga
Interconnects: twisted pair Streetwires, 16 feet IIRC (one of the better zero noise line, forget which, got it cheap.)
speaker wire: twisted pair Streetwires, 14ga
door components: Alpine Type-S 6.5"
Ipod cable: Alpine fullspeed cable
sub: Infinity Basslink-X
DCI: Modifry Wired

With all the random connections, spades, etc, I'd guess $1000-1200 without the iPod included in that price (already had it), but that may not be 100% accurate because I never really added up all the small stuff.

I installed it myself so installation was $0... well actually $4 for some hard copper "wire" that I used as a snake for the door wiring.

Since you are fairly close, if you ever visit the Tampa area let me know, we can met up if you want to hear mine.

I've kept the cost down pretty reasonably on my stereo for this car. The S2000 doesn't need high end components to sound good, as it's such a small cabin.

Head unit - $300
component speakers - $125
DCI - $100
Amp - $200
Sub/custom box for tool well - $350
Wiring - $75
Install - did it myself, wasn't too difficult

$1150.

Sounds pretty good, too.

$1500 means nothing without an equipment list. Ask them what they are going to put in for that $1500.
I agree....a number like that means NOTHING without a list of components and also the competency of the installer. If he cuts corners and does a hack job, you're better of with the stock system!

Luckily I did my whole install but just my labor alone is well over 80+ hours into the car and at my usual shop rate of $80 / hour, you are at $6400 just in labor.

If you are wondering why so much labor, we stripped the entire car to dynamat each panel, even under the car! Each door panel was cleaned and custom mounts were built for the Focals. Each speaker has dedicated speaker wire, etc. My double din deck install alone took about 40 hours to do with all the experimentation. This on top of my actual parts cost so I have a decent chunk of money in the car....

Focals, Alpine PDX amp, JL sub, Eclipse deck, Dynamat, PAC interface, Ipod adapter, changer, custom fiberglass sub box, V-1, etc

But I'm sure many guys here have spent more than me easy, you don't look back when you do this type of work or you will always be surprised...haha
