Default HU installation

I plan to replace my stock HU with an Alpine 9847. The rep @ Crutchfield advise me that the alpine will not be a perfect fit and I would need to make a harness for the install. Is this true, if it is what will I need.

Thanks.

Whats a 'perfect fit'? 90% of all head units are the same size and will fit the s2000..

what ever HU you want to go with it is best if you get an adaptor harness which plugs into your factory harness and have a bunch of color coded wires on the other end.. This way you dont have to butcher your factory harness

You can get the adaptors off the S2ki marketplace..

I order the DCI and the wiring harness. I plan to pick up the alpine 9847. My questions is what do I need to do to secured the HU. Is there another adapter avaiable? Do I need to modify the brace holding the factory HU.

Once you get the DCI and the headunit, you will have everything you need. Just follow the instructions.

note: borrow or buy a soldering iron. you want to get all those connections secure the first time. heat wrap the connections. once the DCI is wired to the HU, it's plug and play baby! The HU fits with four screws, super easy.

Of course you wil have to pull off your center console, and radio door. it's kinda scary on a new car, but you won't have any problems. it's also really easy.
