Default if you had to get coaxials

The idea of running an amp does not sit well with me....mainly due to cost for reward aspects.....so I might ditch my idea of hybrid audio imagines.......so if you had to get coaxials and only run off the head unit what would you choose????

You can run components without an amp provided you have a reasonable head unit. It'll still sound better than using coaxials.

Should you wish to install an amp in future, you'll not have to buy components at that stage either.

I hear many people choose this: Polk Audio DB651 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers

If you are not going to use an amp, look for very efficient speakers, which
in the specs is usually denoted "sensitivity" - how many decibels (dB) are
produced at 1 meter by 1 watt. A high number is good, and every 3 dB reduction
in sensitivity requires twice the power for the same volume, so you can see
why it matters. Definitely look for something 90dB+; these Infinity KAPPA60.9CS
claim 95dB.

I'm really wondering if higher end speakers are worth the extra money in the s with all the road noise......

If it doesn't make sense to install speakers with an amp in the S2000, it most certainly doesn't make sense to do so without one.

To combat road noise, you need more power and that power is supplied via an amplifier. Sound deadening and closed cell foam will also aid with noise reduction.

You can pick up one of the Vibe Audio class GH amplifiers for less than $150!

I can hear my music over my exhaust with the windows up or down and the hardtop on or off. You will not be able to accomplish this without an amplifier and a decent set of speakers in the S.

If you decide to go with the Imagines, you will have made a great choice.

Here is a recent video of mine with SPL values. The SPL values are Incorrect and are actually lower than actual, but you will get the idea.
Your post has now given me the idea to record a video while driving the S under the varying noise conditions.
