When swapping ECUs for a standalone, we loose the immobilizer. What back up precautions, other than an aftermarket alarm, have others taken to deter a thief?

I wanna see what options exist to deter or slowdown a rolling start or hotwire attempt.

 

immobilizer stops all those... so consider yourself screwed...

The professionalism of the installation of an alarm will depend on how long it'll take them to get your car. I've been installing for over 10 years, and technically if I wanted to steal a car with an alarm it wouldn't be hard at all, actually easier since the alarms are tapped into the wires I need.

 

Yes, but the OEM immobilizer is so easy to get around its virtually worthless to any thief who knows how to hot wire. As any alarm..., but the complexity of the install could buy vital time.

So since you have experience, what other measures would slow you down? Obviously if sometihng has been installed, it can be defeated.

Lead, a dog and motion lights so far have helped me alot!

 

Would pulling the fuel pump fuse work?

 

Ya I was thinking of something like that would make it a royal pain in the ass for a thief.
