Hey Gang,
What do you recommend for the rear speakers I will most likey go with Spods and I will run them off of a sony head unit. Do you recommend Kappas or reference speakers. 5.25 inch..

I'm no expert with car audio but I will give you my opinion. Choosing from the Kappas or Reference series, I would definitely go with the Reference. The Kappas are rating at 100watts RMS and the manual states that you should feed a bare minimum of 50watts RMS. Most HU's are putting out around 20watts RMS per channel, which would way underpower the Kappas. Now the reference have a higher sensitivity and are rated at 75watts RMS which should sound decent when run off of your sony HU (given that it is a newer model that produces at least 20watts rms).
If you really want either of these speakers to shine, you will have to purchase a amp which produces at least 75watts RMS!

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong here!!

This is an extensive thread that sums up many opinions on the types of rears to get, and whether or not to amp them. Check it out, keep us posted.thread on rears and ampage

I would go reference, especially if you are using the HU amp. That's what I have.

I recently purchased the Infinity 5000cs component set for my S-Pods. They will also be ran off of my headunit. You dont want to run anything too outstanding in the S-Pods or you wont be able to hear your fronts. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all of your insight. I will most likely go with the reference series and My Sony Head Unit. I'll let you know how it sounds. Its a real simple set up, but It has to sound better than the stock system. I forgot to mention that I already have 6.5 reference speakers in the doors running off the stock h/u and they sound pretty descent, but are a bit under powerd. I bought the car used, so I am still trying to figure a few things out...

JUst wanted to let you know that I went ahead and installed infinity reference 5.25's in the rear panels along with a Sony CDX 850 Mp3 reciever. I already had 6.25 reference speakers up front. My buddy did the install and it came out real clean. The sound is night and day witht he new h/u. I am really happy with it and I know there are mixed reviews about the rear panels, but It seems to have worked out pretty good in my case. I do fade the sound just a bit up front, but the rears add some good fill snd low end bass. thanks for everyones input.

Good Choice.. you wouldnt have been as happy with the kappa's.
YOu would have had to amp them

For the almost absolute sound:
if you can fit your existing refrences in the back panels, keep 'em and amp the fronts with Perfects or Kappas. That IMHO would be a nice sound.
