Default Install help!

I just recently joined the dash cutting crew and installed an Alpine TME-580 in my dash. I have most of the wires set up except for the brake and hand brake wire. I was told that the two had to be hooked up inorder to play video at a stand still. Is there any way I can bypass this so I can have the video/ navigation playing while I am driving. After searching online I found a little black box on ebay (PAC tr7) that people swear that worked in bypassing Alpine safety feature. Will this work with a stock headunit? Is there any other way of bypassing this feature without getting the black box? Also, since I bought the monitor used..what is the process of getting the screen to play (i heard something about holding the break and then pulling up and down on the e-brake, not to sure though) Any help is appreciated.

p.s. before anyone asks, I will be getting a headunit soon just looking for a temporary fix.

I dont have experience to that particular model, but if you ground them, you should have done it. The unit looks for the ebrake to activated, so its either a ground, or a 12V constant. On Pioneers, its just a ground. Wait till a few more people answer, and youll know 100%.

i'll give that a try..so brake wire to a 12v and e-brake to ground ? I just tried to run both wires to a 12v and that was no luck.

Yes grounding usually works. I know for a fact pioneers work like that, but im pretty sure alpine would be the same way.

The foot brake wire should be hooked up to ignition 12v.
e-brake wire should be hooked up to a good ground source.
hope this helps.
some of the first alpine models had a goofy sequence of brake on, brake off,
e brake on, that you had to do to get them to display video while you were driving.
i would say check the manual if you have it and make sure this is not the situation.
if for some reason it is you can still bypass it with a momentary and toggle switch.
if it turns out that is the case i have the stuff to do it and can send you a diagram.
