Default Installing the Alpine

First I just want to thank everyone that has been helpful and patient with us electronic novices. I bought an Alpine 9830 and a harness, and want to install it myself. Has anyone done a detailed thread on stock HU removal and then Alpine install. I did a search and could not find what I need. I am an electronic novice but I have put new HU's in before. The problem I usually have is securing the new HU as well as the factory HU.

Did you buy the DCI to connect to the stock dash controls? Installing a new HU is very easy.

1st. unscrew your shift knob.
2nd. remove your center console by carefully lifting up on the clips up down the entire center console.

3rd. Once that is out you will have to remove your headunit door. It will take a removal tool or a flathead screwdriver. Carefully lodge it between the top of the door frame and the dash, and you should be able to pry it loose and off. After that it's just a few screws that hold the headunit and you're in.

it's kinda scary for a newbie but it's really pretty easy. We do it all the time.

I have not obtained the DCI yet. I am going to do that later. That is very helpful Willie. Will I have to fabricate something to have the HU mounted properly or will it bolt right in were the stock HU was?

I just put a new Alpine in today...

You'll take the mounting brackets off the original HU and use them to mount the new one.
