Default Installing AMP and speakers

I'm planning on an inexpensive upgrade to my stereo by installing a small amp and new door speakers. I'm considering Kenwood KFC-1668S 6 1/2" (which are direct replacments for our stock speakers) and a Profile California 100SX 35Wx2 Amp. I've replaced speakers and receivers before but I've never installed an amp or done much wiring in a car. My question is how difficult will it be to wire the receiver to the amp and the amp to the new speakers? Where do you suggest running the wires? Where would you suggest installing the amp in our car? Will it fit under the seat? Is it ok to use the speaker outputs from the factory receiver to send the signal to the amp? Does the factory receiver have a power antenna feed to use to turn the amp on and off? Also does anyone have any experience with either these speakers and amp and what is your opinion of them? Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Erik

I would pass on the Profile amp. My brother had one 500x2. Louder that hell, but the quality was crap. As far as wiring, check out the Electronic forum. The general consensus is to run them down the center console where the factory CD harness is run. People have installed the amp in the tool area, on the spare tire, above the fuel tank (yes it's safe).

The Kenwoods I checked out were a bit tinny. I don't remember which model they were. I would not tap into the factory harness. Some dealerships will not honor the warranty if it is modified in any way. Honestly I would replace the factory unit. It is marginal at best.

The factory unit has a lead used for the antenna amplifier. Again, I wouldn't tap into the factory harness.

Check out the electronics forum. All of these issues have been discussed before.

A word of advice...
If you post this kind of question in the Electronic forum, you will get a better response.
