are you sure that's not mang? he's the south florida guy.
But if you're in my neck of the woods with the S, we'll hang for sure. Do you fish?

pics of the sub will be up later today
it's just a standard non-ported box with a 10 inch L5 kicker
BUT we are going to fiberglass another box and port it with-in the next few weeks because from what i understand, you'll get even more bass from a ported box
I still need to wire up the 4 gauge power/ ground to my JL500/1 from the battery and ground (using 8 now) and i need to attach another 4 gauge to my alpine amp..

Actually Steve that sub will be loudest in a small non ported box in your car. Because to make a ported box the right size for that sub the box is going to be pretty big... like you won't be having a trunk afterwards.
Here are the specs:
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: When mounted in a sealed enclosure, the woofer delivers massive amounts of high-impact bass and can be driven with punishing levels of amplifier power.
Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.66 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 450 watts RMS
SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 1.0 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 450 watts RMS
Recommended Vented Box Volume: The vented enclosures incorporate massive slot-loaded ports with ultra-low air velocity and hard-hitting bass. These are not your traditional port tubes; the slot-loaded ports are integrated into the enclosure design.
Compact: 1.25 cu/ft; 2.5" x 11.25" port opening; 19.75" port length; the woofer can handle up to 450 watts RMS
Street Bass: 1.75 cu/ft; 2.75" x 11.25" port opening; 17.75" port length; the woofer can handle up to 450 watts RMS
SPL/Deep Bass: 2.25 cu/ft; 3" x 11.25" port opening; 18" port length; the woofer can handle up to 450 watts RMS
Basically your building a sealed box

No. You need to build a box with an internal box volume of 1.0 cubic foot. Which as it turns out is very possible in the S. Then just build a nice cover to go over it.
Its actually a very easy box to build. You've heard my brothers box Steve and that's actually a little small for it. His is a cubic foot outside not inside like it should be and his pounds with less power then you have.
If you build a box from 3/4 MDF with an internal volume size of 1.0 cubic foot and put 450 watts to that sub its going to be so loud!
Your gonna need to Dynamat your head

I honestly haven't... well I have but not in the way your talking about. Streetwires make 'some' nicer stuff.
The biggest things to look for:
Twisted pair cable
A good shield
Strong gold or silver plated terminal ends
As a side note(this really isn't for your benefit but more for others that read this.., none of this will matter much if you have crappy equipment.
Crap in = crap out
Basically if your equipment sucks, you could have the best interconnects know to man and its not going to fix the crappy signal you'd be dealing with.
I will be ordering some cabling products from KNU just to check them out. I sent them an email yesterday so we'll see what happens.
