I'll be testing your theory out this weekend as all my parts are ready to be (re)installed - i have had a constant whine in my system since day one but we (about sixty guys helped though the course of 6 months) ran everything together down the passenger's side..

we plan to rip everything out and start over - i now have a set of high end Monster rcas so we'll see if this makes a difference

John!!

I ordered the interconnects you recommended - some of the whine definitely comes on with the ac compressor.

thanks

sorry - did I throw you?

You recommend shielded not fancy RCA patches per this recent thread because I have whine - so I ordered some thanks.

You and I went around a bit about the whine and I was just updating you that I determined some of it is coming from the AC for sure.

No big deal - just wanted to expound.

Nick

The AC (air conditioner) has absolutely nothing to do with your stereo, or have any ill effects on it.

This may be mute or moot as I ordered the Knu patch cables but I sm not making up the fact that when the AC cycles - it kicks up the whine which maybe does not directly impact but I guess draws more from the electrical system - whatever. AC on - more whine so using the word absolutely nothing has to be incorrect with all due respect.

Are you talking about the whine that occurs when you turn the car on??

You missed a very important Scenario, #7. Run #6 with the crappy RCAs from #1. Yes, there's no substitute for a good braid, but you can't ignore the benefits of braiding the wires together for a higher common-mode noise rejection.
