Problem fixed and everything is working peachy. These lights are only intended to provide some ambient lighting when getting in and out of the car at night. You cannot even see them come on in any direct sunlight. (top down).

I am going to install a little switched ground leg to the circuit to get the OEM "switch" on and off capability. I am going to order an OEM defroster switch, and see if I can't make it work for this application. My goal to make it look like it came from the factory like that.

From the link above, I used 4 white "step lights", and wired them in parallel. No need for resistor soldering... just white lead to power and black lead to ground (LED's only work one way, and my harness was all heat-shrinked up when I atached the leads, so I am assuming the "ground" and "power" orientations.... If they dont come on, try the other way!).

I've had this mod for a while now using VARAD SMT led's....I opted for blue and is just bright enough to create ambient light - you DO NOT want it too bright or it gets distracting.....

I'll snap some pics of mine but it's great for lighting up ladies toe-nails

Great job John, now go vacuum your car omg!

I have red foot well and door handle well LED too. I pick red cuz they didn't affect my night vision. I've done white and blue for other ppl. The white was too harsh and the blue made things look weird. I drop a yellow handle pair of plier, when i went to pick them up i couldn't find them. cuz they were orange!

I got tired of people kicking the lower A-pillar when entering the car at night or not finding the door handle to get out of the car..

I used 3mm, 70deg Red LEDs. I used 3 LEDs per foot well wired in series to a 100 ohm 1w res. Tapped into the doom light wiring by the passenger A-pillar. This works when you open the doors, like the dome lights.
I've made a box with a switch so the lights can be turned be turn on/off regardless if the doors are open or not for other ppl..

Used a T-1 3/4, 360deg LED with a 680ohm 1/2w res. for the door handle. This turns on when you turn on the parking lights.

I'll see if i can take some pics of LEDs in the car and the pre-wired LEDs assemblies when i get home.
