iO Play
Hi guys, i'm new here so be gentle...
I've recently bought a 2005 Honda S2000 here in the UK, after nearly 7 months of looking for the right car, i found one with pretty low mileage (13,000m), the exterior colour (Black) and interior colour (black n red) that I wanted. Im very pleased with the car, even if im still a bit cautious about driving it in the wet
So introductions aside, there is actually a point to this post. I love my music and at the moment use an FM transmitter plugged into my iPod Touch to stream my music to the stereo in the S2000. This is made slightly awkward by the position of the S2000's cigarette lighter since the remote controls for the iPod are on the cigarette adapter, I solved this problem by buying an extension lead which whilst looking a bit messy, does the job.
Then I came across this online: http://www.my-io.com/Products/iOPLAY.aspx
This would not only solve my cabling issues but would also save me installing the hands free kit from my previous car. There's just one problem...
Where on earth would the console for iOPlay be installed in the S2000? It has a small wire which leads behind the car stereo so obviously the idea is to install it near the radio. Not really possible with the hidden away S2000 radio. I do not want to drill or otherwise modify my dash.
Has anyone got one of these installed? Or even any ideas where the console would be installed?

These look good, thanks guys. Do you know if they have any UK stockists?
It didn't occur to me to look at mounting brackets. An alternative to this would be the Brodit one which is widely available in the uk and does not require any dismantling of the dash or drilling or screws. Take a look here and let me know if you think this would be ok.
The iOPlay controller is only 71mm by 31mm in size so it should fit ok on one of these brackets.

Im sure that would be fine, but the modifry unit is an awesome unit and it really isnt hard to install. I would go for the modifry because I like the location better of it, but I would think either would work alright. I think it is manily going to end up being a matter of preference for you.

Oh, and I'd forget the iO Play and get a iPod compatible head unit, ie. Alpine iDA-X001 or iDA-X100
Well, when I say cigarette lighter I guess I mean "power adapter" since you don't get an actual lighter in there. Not a problem for me, I smoke but not in the car.
I did have a look at the Alpine units a while back, but I was under the impression that the handsfree kit for them is sold separately (at about

Well I guess it's like any roundabout in the rain, go carefully. At the end of the day it's a quick car and rear wheel drive so if you give too much round a bend in the wet the back's gonna go. I've never had any problems. Just use common sense and ...DO NOT VTEC!

I love my iDA, it sounds great (amp and speakers may have a lot to do with this though) and makes it relatively easy to navigate your iPod. The connection is a USB cable that comes out of the back which I have routed into the glovebox (above the 'cigarette lighter'). Yes the handsfree kit has to be purchased seperately and to be honest if you read about it on here it's generally regarded as a a pile of crap. I have a Parrot kit that works great but looks
just stuck on the top of my dash...I'm trying to figure out a better place to put it though!
