Finally, I have a digital camera to take pictures of my iPod setup. I haven't seen one like it (surprisingly), but here it is anyway. I'm using stock everything (until the iPod-capable Alpines come out), and I have stowed away somewhere in there the PIE-HON AUX adapter. The Monster cable itself is an RCA to Mini cable. Lemme know what you think!

Now you see it...

Now you don't!

Notice the hole and the Monster cable. I think it adds a nice touch, especially the lanyard-type material the cable's made out of.

Thank you. I figured I won't allow drinks in my baby, so why not give my other baby (heh heh) her own home. I'm planning on spending a few grand upgrading the sound once the new Alpine HU comes out that will allow you to control the iPod. I plan on buying another iPod either when Apple decides to upgrade them again, or when Alpine finally comes out with the HU's, whichever comes first. I will likely sell this one for about a hundred and a half just to get rid of it. But yeah, it's getting pretty old...1st generation.

ok just read that you're using a pie connector on your factory head unit.. is there an extra connetor in the back of the factory head unit OR did you just unplug the x/m connnector??

reason i ask is because i need to figure a way to add my pda with Nav to the factory head unit but i don't think there's an extra ip bus connector..

currently using x/m with my head unit

Thxs

jshmoe,

I just got the Dension ICE>Link delivered today, I'm hoping to install it in the same place as you have put your iPod, it looks great

Quick question, was the centre consle easy to remove? also as a little finishing touch get yourself a rubber grommit to go in the hole you drilled and thread the wire through it.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Nice install!
What do you do about the drop (uneven floor) in the cup holder?

Yeah, the center console wasn't difficult at all. In fact, drilling the hole was the hardest part for me. The reason why I decided against a grommit was because I was going to do some more work later when the Alpine/Apple stuff I need comes out (see above).

As for the uneven level, you can put a thin piece of rubber on the lower section. I left it as-is though. There wasn't much reason for me to make it even since the upper part supports all the weight anyway (no balancing issues w/iPod). Also, nobody ever notices that detail a level from my real-life experience. You should be more concerned with hole placement and cleanliness. I placed mine so that it was hidden from both driver and passenger sides.
