good call, the cupholders are worthless...

Here's mine, I didn't put it under the elastic strap because I didn't like the way it stressed the base of the iPod/cable.
Very nice! I use a Modifry glove box organizer so it was either under the strap or in the cup holder. And I completely agree the cupholder is useless...that is what the wife is for!

Mine is under the strap, but the cable goes through a hole in the back of my glove box, similar to:

But its a small hole in the corner. From there, I just took the wire around the metal under the plastic vent piece and then under the carpet of the passenger-side transmission tunnel up to the dash.

I drilled the hole just big enough to get the smaller end of the cable through. To wire the cable along the transmission tunnel, you need to remove the plastic vent piece behind the pass. seat and the HU cover piece on the side of where the radio is. That's three screws total, with the vent screws hidden behind little plastic covers in the hooks.

Take off those panels, then pop the carpet tacks that hold the carpet and leather console cover to the top of the transmission tunnel. The leather behind the seat under the vent panel has a velcro strip that you can open and slide the wire through, which makes tings a little easier, but be careful as the staples that hold the leather and carpet together behind the seat will pull out if you pull too hard.

When you run your wire, I actually kept mine below where the tacks are inserted rather than trying to stuff the cable on the top where things are tight. Its pretty straightforward to run that wire. nce you get it behind the HU location, run out the slack back to the back of the car and you should be good to go.

Originally, my iPod sat here:

But now I have a rubberized case that holds it fast under the band on the console door, so it clears the hinge without problem, and when I'm being lazy, I don't secure the iPod in the door, I just hook it up and let it lie in the glove box. When I drive top down I can lock the glove and not have to worry about my iPod getting stolen.

I don't even like the stress on the ipod cable as well.
So I decided to build a kind of base made of foamed plastic. So the cable is straight and not stressed.

it works great, no need for a fancy holder when i'm pulling that thing in and out on a regular basis. although some of those holders look pretty slick.
