Default JL Audio 500/5 Amp

Is anyone running one of these? If so, what are your opinions. It really seems like a good power fit for the S. I'm thinking of mounting it vertically in the trunk.

I see it on your mods page. Do you not have heat buildup problems with it packed so tight?

I've got a 300/4 mounted pretty tight too

Even with it mounted sideways (incorrectly according to the manual) and having taken long trips with a trunk stuffed with clothes, I haven't had a heating problem yet.

[Edit] Oops...do note that I've got the gains only up about halfway and they're only being used to run a 2" mid and a tweeter.

The real beast in my system is the Autotek amp...now there's an amp that can take a pounding

I have the JL 450/4 (same dimensions as the 500/5 mounted verticaly in the trunk with the fins up as recommended by JL. The problem with this type of mount is it partially blocks access to the spare.

I have mine powering my 2 sets of 6"s, 4 tweets, and the 2 subs under the seats and it works great!!! A little underpowered for my setup but perfect for a normal-medium high end setup.
