Default JL W7 13.5" would it fit easily?

Ok, I know somebody selling a JL W7 with JL 1000w amp for 1,100...stuff was never used, guy owns an Evo and is more into racing and doesn't want the added weight.

Well, I'm wondering, would the W7 13.5" fit well in the trunk? Would it sound clean...kinda wondering if a 13.5" sub would just sound loud rather than clean, or would it just depend on the box?

ok...ya, I was just wondering...I knew about the W7's for a while and how a lot of people said they were really good. But now that I'm buying an S2k (don't actually have one yet) I realize space is an issue.

My actual thought was going with some powerful 10" maybe...I like a lot of kinds of music, rap, rock, techno...so really I don't know of a "one sub fits all"...I do know that I like clean bass...that to me is much more important than loud bass.

NFR, give some good sub / amp combinations please. I just want quality sound to enjoy for myself, not loudness. Maybe a good 10" with a good amp?

My 800 series alphasonik eating 410WRMS (rated at 900 rms) is LOUDER and CLEANER than by friend's 10" W7 with 800wrms (rated at 750 rms)

Model number PSW810.....amazing subwoofer....one of the best Ive ever heard....quite possibly THE best for a mix of SPL/SQ.....(although eclipse come real close)

For 193 shipped.....you cant go wrong. The quality and beauty is surpassed by few.

Any good 500-1000watt amp would be ideal.

sweet...so any reputable amp like say 1000w 4 way would be good to power one of these plus two rear speakers?

and bridge the sub?

I've said it before, and I will say it again. I believe the sub should have it's own amp. I think it is a mistake to combine amplification for the sub and for the other speakers. Driving coax or component speakers in the cabin requires somewhat different technology to be efficient and inexpensive.

Perhaps you know where to find a 1000x4 amp thats reasonably priced. There are a few (and only a few) out there. In this case you're going to be talking about bridging 2 channels to mono to try to get 500w out of them and using the other two channels at 250wpc to drive rear 5.25" speakers?!?

If you get a class-d amp it will run fairly cool and be reasonably priced and size, but have more distortion than other types of amps. A class A/B or pure class A will run pretty hot trying to push 500w to a sub, and is likely to be kind of expensive.

Let us know what you decide on this. I'm also kind of interested in this Alphasonik sub. I've heard very few people speak so highly of them, but NFR speaks of them like they are the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe there is something to them that the rest of the audio world hasn't figured out. Wouldn't be the first time.
