Default Just got my Diamond Audio Hex600s comps..

I must say.. these speakers are top notch in build quality. I have not installed them since I have not received my Arc Audio amp. but damn.. crossover's even got a RAF(rear audio fill) so you can connect additional speaker to it.

You can run 3 freaking speakers off this Xover.

But it's also FREAKING HUGE AND HEAVY. whole thing is solid metal, with clear plastic on top.

the woofer seem like it's shorter and smaller then the Infiniti perfect 6.1 components as well.

I can't wait to put them in...

To install the crossovers in the door, remove the black plastic box and angle the crossovers across two of the screw holes - I can't remember which two, but I promise it fits...lol

If you can, set your HU crossover to approx 60hz, 12dB/oct to get the best low freq performance.

I'm sure I can set the frequency but not sure about the gain. i believe that is what you meant.

Cant' I set that on the amp also? I got an Arc Audio FD4150 amp

Not the gain, the crossover slope. You might have the option on the amp, some HUs offer the option as well (it's how an active crossover works - HU allows you to choose your crossover frequencies and slopes for each set of speakers - highs/mids/sub)

Diamonds

You think the Hex''s x-over is big, you should see the ones with the D971's, they're almost the size of the PDX amps.

that's too much lol.. car's small enough already, dont' need anything bigger.

I'm not sure my head unit has that.. have to look in the manual more carefully, but I got a very simple Kenwood head unit with 6 channel preouts and front usb port.

Eh, it prob doesn't offer the choice of crossover slopes.

I'd love to get the 971 speakers (no need for the crossovers) or the new Hex PROs...

But, I just want the speakers. So, with that, I'll probably have to go with a higher brand name...

I've got the 971's

I'll check with a friend of mine, he sells DA, I might be able to get you just the speakers...

I need to go check out the Pro's, those look good

How much of a difference in sound do you think it will make to go from the S600s' (active x-over - mids 63Hz -4kHz, highs 4kHz+ - on an Audison LRx 4.300) to the D971s or Hex Pros (if you get a chance to listen to them)?

^^ Sorry about that, I forgot about this thread.

I think that amp would be a little small (power-wise) for the D971s, it should be just fine for the Hex Pro's. My friend has not got his in yet (he's supposed to call when he does) so I haven't had a chance to play with them.
The only other thing you could do, would be to bi-amp the 971s or Pros, but that would depend whether you're running anything off the rear channels of the amp.

The x-over setting at 63Hz is quite low, but if you aren't clipping I guess it's fine. 4kHz is very high for mid-bass, mine aren't set anywhere near that level 1kHz or below IIRC, you aren't hurting anything by running them that high, but seems like a waste to me.
The tweeter at 4kHz is also very high, the D971 tweeter can handle lower than typical frequencies, but I think that one is set too high.
