hansai, you have to connect the DCI into a custom harness, either making your own or buying Modifry's (I liked his).
i have the iDA-X100 also. Great HU, if you read on modifry's site though if you run the red lighting option as opposed to blue sometimes you'll have issues. I have a different DCI which sucks, i need to break down and spend the money for modifrys its way better from what i've seen
the only qualm that i have with the iDA-X100 is that a lot of times my ipod will freeze when its hooked up to it and i have to reset it, and once or twice i've had to actually restore the ipod. Granted, this may be a problem with the ipod it's self (thanks apple for great aesthetics but terrible performance) as opposed to the HU.
Other than that its awesome, spend the money.

I got an infrared one installed. I cannot change the track or station though. They are supposed to do that too right?
All I can do is, volume, mute and then change between cd or radio etc.
Do I have to press a combo of buttons or something? Or is something just not working right?

I am planning on getting the Alpine iDA-X100 with the wired DCI. I read on the DCI website regarding the iDA-X100 & DCI (Wired) having problems. Can anybody elaborate on this issue?
I would assume that once the head unit is installed, the iPod integration is a plug & play? I want to keep my iPod in my glove compartment. Would the wire be long enough to reach the glove compartment? Anybody with pictures of their set up?
Does the head unit come with this wire to connect to the iPod?

I have had some luck with switching the HU to a different source (say FM radio) just before turning off the car when I'm going to take the iPod with me. This "dismounts" the iPod similar to when you first "eject" it on your computer before unplugging it.

I recently installed my Alpine 9884 HU & wired DCI at Best Buy. The mute button does not work at all. Also the track button does not work during iPod mode. The track button works during radio mode though.
Is it possible that the Best Buy installer did something wrong? He installed my Alpine R components, HU, and DCI. I stayed and watch throughout the whole installation and noticed he did a very clean install.
