also, i dont think the x100 or any of that style type headunit fit with the knob oriinally.
i had to drill new mounting holes on the mounting brackets so that the headunit would mount further back but other than that its perfect.
That's odd, I have had the X001 and just recently picked up the X305 and neither one I had to drill any holes in the factory mouting brackets. They bolted right up, hu slides into place and factory door closes without any issue.

I recently installed my Alpine 9884 HU & wired DCI at Best Buy. The mute button does
not work at all. Also the track button does not work during iPod mode. The track button
works during radio mode though.
Did you install a Modifry DCI, or one that BB sold you?
Most generic DCI's don't support the mute button. If Modifry, could be the dipswitch
settings are incorrect.

by generic I meant PAC or similar that are designed for a whole
range of cars rather than s2000 specific.

I'll sell you my old PAC set-up with full "MUTE" function for dirt cheap. I hated that thing.

Speaking of mute, though. Does anyone know how to make the mute button pause tracks with the Modifry DCI? My PAC had an external relay for this, and honestly I do miss that feature of it. It also would reset the mute selection if you turn off the car before turning off mute. The Modifry just leaves the music at minimal volume so you have to manually increase the volume when the power's back on.

UPDATE EDIT: I actually went back on Modifry's site and there's excellent instructions on changing the MUTE function. That means Modifry has already solved my question, making the Modifry DCI 100% perfect... at least in my opinion.

I want to keep my iPod in my glove compartment. Would the wire be long enough to reach the glove compartment? Anybody with pictures of their set up?
I'd say search but the search feature here is pretty awful. Try referring to this thread. I used it to route my cable to the secret compartment:

Alpine includes a USB cable, with a short adapter at the end for the iPod dock connector.
I actually recommend getting the full speed cable unless your HU comes with one (my 9886 did).

[QUOTE=philbert,Feb 10 2009, 02:24 PM]I keep my iPod in the glove box, but originally wanted it in the upper compartment.

I did it through a Geek Squad from Best Buy.

The DCI suddenly started working again. If it was installed wrong, I believe it won't work at all. Has anybody has this same problem with their DCI?

mine did fit originally without any holes, but the radio door 'just' touched the big control knob when i shut it. To avoid any wear, i drilled new holes.

Also, i noticed u have an ap2. im not sure if ap2s have the "letter holder" inside the radio door which may make a difference... or the shape might be a little different.
