Default Just removed door speakers, Hmmm

So for the first time since I've owned the car, which I am the second owner. I removed the door speakers to see what was there. I want to replace the speakers that are there, but I would like to know if anyone knows anything about the ones I uncovered.

They are Image Dynamics, CTX 5, component coaxial speakers, 4 ohm 60 watts rms. I don't know too much about electronics, so any info would be great. Personally I think they suck.

The other stuff I have in the car is as is.

Sub- JL Audio W3 12inch
Amp- JL Audio A1200.

Only the sub is connected to the Amp. Again I am a noobie when it comes to this stuff. Any help is appreciated.

hmm...have you ever heard a stock s2000 sound system? I'm sure yours is way better than that...

one of the first things i'd do is get an amp, and if you still don't like the speakers, i'd upgrade at that point, but you'll want an amp for your speakers, eventually, anyway

So, I need a different amp then the one I have. Is it because it's a mono amp. Do I need a multi channel amp, to be able to hook up the doors speakers and sub together. Please help me out, that way I can go out shopping. LOL

Yea get you a 2 channel amp or a 4 channel and bridge a set to run the sub and leave 2 open to run the doors. DFW is right on point, you are going to want an amp to run those door speakers anyway, or any other nice door speakers you get. So get the amp first, then if you think the speakers are still the weak point, get a new set. FYI here is the amp I just bought:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_15815_...o+D6+450.2.html

Got it from Sonic through Ebay, had an 8% coupon, then got 8% cash back to my paypal account using Bing.com, so Amp cam in a little over $150 and had free shipping. I however do not plan on going with a sub, so if you only want one amp, go with a 4 channel or 5 channel.

So I should get a 2 channel amp to run my door speakers, and keep my JL Audio Mono amp for the sub. Or get a 4 or 5 channel amp to run all of it and get rid of the mono amp.

i like the versatility of having more than one amp, and it'd be easier to just get a 2 or 4 channel amp for your interior speakers

i say 4 channel because you can bridge for your door speakers now, and later if you want to, you can get rear speakers and not have to get another amp, i don't think an amp for your interior speakers should be over $200, lots of options under/around that price point

When you're at it consider sound damping the doors. I just did mine and I'm realy pleased with the result. It's a bit of work but why do it half way when you allready spending money and time in to it. You can find a lot more about it if you search for it. And sound damping in USA is like free compare the price in Sweden so I would go for it! I imported 100sqft of fatmat and had to pay twise the cost of the product in shipping and taxes and it's still about half the price of our sheppest sound damping brand here..

Good to know about bridge an amp: If you bridge you the amp you get lower resistans and less control, so I wouldn't bridge to anything else then to a sub, becaus a sub isn't that sensative. Then of curse every amp sound and behaves a bit different and you can get realy good sound even thow you bridge the amp.
So if I whas you I'd get a real good JL 2 chanel amp to complement what you got.

A picture on my door after installing the DLS nobelium woofers and 15-20 sqft of fatmat in each door.

Good luck!
