Well, now my interior lights dont work and I have a CEL. I know not to use a larger fuse, thank god, and I will have to figure out how to get the radio out (stock HU) and check for the plexus of wires that I might have back there

If it's the stock head unit, I doubt you have wires floating around. What did Best Buy install?

10 inch sub and an amp with it. I assume that this is their bread and butter.

O.K. it has already been covered...Best Buy...bad idea???..Maybe...maybe not...whatever...you've paid them for an install and it doesn't work. They have an installation guarantee. If you start pulling the deck and messing around in the car you "WILL" void that installation warranty. Go back to them and make them fix it!!! If they can't, get a store manager involved and have them commit to getting the dealer involved...at their expense. Doesn't sound like you're up to the trouble shooting and shouldn't have to. You paid $$$ for their expertise. Make them live up to the contract.......

i assumed you had an aftermarket radio where the unintentional grounding could easily be found behind the radio saving you time from going back...go back there and just tell em the ish is messing up...and next time find some1 local to you that knows what there doing such as a member on here...most of these guys that work at best buy and circuit city road shops etc aren't techs, there avg joes that have some ability...just buy da stuff and read the directions next time and do it yourself...not like u had to do fab work...also, radio shoulda been the first thing you changed

Turns out that one fuse was blown, several fuses were in the wrong place(something I never touched) so the low voltage to the car threw a CEL

I'm a supervisor at Best Buy.
Because of numerous claims that came from damage during installations in the past. There is a company wide requirement for the installers to now have a certification. Its actually a really difficult test. We lost all but one of our installers because they were unable to pass it. Before the certification was a requirement I took my car to our install bay to have a Deck installed. Trusted my employees...

I go to pick it up and up front our installer tells me, "I was trying to get that flip down cover off and could't figure it out. I put a flat head screw driver between it and your dash trying to wedge it out. I got it out but theres a little indention in your interior where the screw driver put pressure on." I looked at it and it wasn't that bad. If I were to file a claim to my own store that dash looks as if it is all one huge piece. Very labor intense to have it replaced. So, I moved on, nothing major. I respected his honesty. Of course, I'm am a supervisor.

To say the least. Even with certifications, expertise knowledge. Accidents and lack of knowledge does bring problems in every job. No one is perfect. I do all my stereo work myself now. I've probably installed my deck three times over again since it was first done by BBY. I would let him touch my Geo any day but the S will only be touched by me. I have too much pride in this car.

BB and CC sucks. They did an install on one of my buddy's Miata and broke the arm rest storage cover. Then to top it off they tried to clue it back with super glue. HAHAHA... Only problem was the car is new so my buddy brought the car back and got the arm rest replaced which cost more than the deck. HAHAHA....
