Why do you want it? I know how to do it but why would you want it... might as well go all out and get the setup that uses your finger print to start the car.

wouldnt you have to pretty much swap out the ignition from a keyless ready car? I would also imagine that the wiring harnesses would be nothing alike....probably quite a bit of soldering and wire hunting.

I would love to know as well....just for future reference

Its not as hard as you would think. Its like a remote starter but instead of having a remote you have a keypad or something else in the car to start it. Boat have this type of setup. Its just a keypad... the right code starts the boat. Same thing here but in a car. Fairly easy.

I think he's referring to a Prox key, like some new Miata's have.

You have they key in your pocket and an RFID chip in the key tells the car it's okay to unlock or start.

You still have to press a button to unlock the doors.
Still need something built onto the ignition to turn (we don't have that).
Would need a way to override the built in chips in our keys.

The only way to easily set prox keys up on a S2000 would remove security. And you'd still need the key to move the car (unlock the steering wheel). So you'd not be saving any time.

Also, RFID chips can be cloned. So it's not overly secure.

Hmmm, which part? I'm guessing you've got a secure way to unlock the steering wheel?

Yeah, I was referring to a Proximity key (similar to Cadillac XLR). Just get in and go. But if you are still required to turn something, its kinda pointless.

You'd have to unlock the steering wheel somehow.

I suppose you could actuate it but I've not taken apart the steering column. So I'm not sure how it'd be done.

Most of the ones I've seen you get in and you still turn something on the column. The upside is you don't have to take your key out of your pocket.

Things that would need a work around:
Steering column lock
chip in current key

John probably has a way around both but you'd also need a prox key from somewhere and something to read it. Could probably be worked out with an RFID chip and reader but I'm not a fan of RFID so I've not researched it.
