What are some components that can fit our doors without much modifications besides the oem plastic basket? The fitment should be 6 1/2" correct? I tried mounting some 6 1/2" speakers and they were too large so I am guessing I should go with 5 1/4".

 

I think pretty much any "shallow mount" speakers should fit. There is only like 1.79" (or some outrageously small number) between the door panel and the window track. The stock basket is not that thick. I think the Infinity Refereces are direct drop ins (from what I have read on here).

Using the data found on MacGyver's site the rear depth of the space for speakers is 68 mm (2.68") on the top and 79 mm (3.11") on the bottom.

I measured 6 different sets of speakers and they would all fit with little or no modification to the factory basket.
