If you are set on this....and you want a cheap solution...you can use the spotlight LEDs, but not have them in the door handle cup. Since they are like spotlights, have them elsewhere, AIMED at the door handles.

 

anyone own a Phillips Pronto Remote? If so the blue led's on the charging station are pretty much the brightness i'd like to see, nothing more then that. too bad they arent amber, i'd just rip them out! hahaha

 

Get bright ones and trim the brightness down with a resistor... you can always dim them, but you can't make them brighter
