Default Listen to ipod

Hey
Can anyone suggest something to use so that i am able to play the iPod in the car.
The thing is I want to keep the original radio in the car and not have loads of wires in the car from the 12v car charger.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Phil

pretty difficult to have a permanent one... but a simple FM transmitter would work

Actually it's pretty easy. Get the appropriate unit from usaspec: http://www.usaspec.com/

Remove your spare tire. Look for the cd changer connection, plug it into there, run cable through the easily removable panels behind either seat, plug in ipod. Put your spare back in.

That's a summary of what I did. There's a more complete guide in the electronics forum with pics (not written by me).

I also got a dash mount from modifry, and then an iphone mount from another vendor (this part is probably the hardest part).

Another more plug-and-play option would be from Science of Speed. They have a unit that plugs into your stock stereo, uses your OEM buttons for tracking, volume, etc. It can be found here:

The problem is he has an 02 and the USA Spec adapters dont work on pre 04 s2000 stereos. You could always pick up someone's 04 headunit they are no longer using if they upgraded to a better stereo

USA spec and a few others make kits for the stock radio that plug into the stock radio. I am using a peripheral brand kit. Do not use the FM modulator thing.

USA spec has an iPod specific Jack that charges the iPod also if I remember correctly. Look in the sponsor marketplace.

This is what I did too. The plug for the CD changer option is in the spare tire area. Just plug the USASPEC into it, find a place to mount it and run the iPod cable to where you want it. I ran my cable to the hidden box above the center con. It works with iPod, iTouch and iPhone. It will charge it and turn it off and on with the car (just like it should). The early model wouldn't charge the iPhone but the newer one will. If you get an older model just upgrade the cable, you can find it on-line for $19.99.

I installed a USASPEC unit in my girl's 2006 RSX base too and she loves it because she can even play Pandora over her stock head unit.

The unit also gives you RCA in jacks for other types of things.

I think it's funny that people on this forum post that there are no options or that it is hard even though this solution has been out for years and you don't even have to cut a wire. I mean come on, it's plug and play...

Don't bother with an FM trans, it won't sound as good and won't integrate as well. The USASPEC device lets you control your iPod/iphone from you head OEM unit and dash controlls (basic features).

It should work with pre-2004 models as well. Just check the spare tire area to see if you have the CD changer plug, I have heared some people with older models do have the plug in the rear. If you don't you can plug into the unit at the rear of the head unit (the USASPEC is a pass through plug (this is how I had to do it on my girl's RSX).
