Look what I got!
A new set of JL 8W3V2's for my WLAURENT sub enclosures. I'm running the JL 500/5 with these bad boys in series on the sub channel, and am very pleased with the bass now. I had a pair of HX2 that are very good subs, however, I just don't think I had enough power to maximize their performance. However, the 8W3V2's power requirements are a perfect match with two of them in series!

By your response these sound like some pretty kick a$$ 8's.
My idea was to build a box that would sit facing the spare tire area and have the box sealed off from the rest of the trunk to reduce the loss in pressure and than Dynamat the entire compartment under the convertible top to help boost the low end and help with the loss in sound. The compartment would sorta be like the vented part of a bandpass enclosure but not. I'm interested in how it would sound.

I'm very pleased with the performance of these little 8's.
I would imagine that your set up would rock!
The great thing about this sub enclosure is I have deep bass without having all the rattles that go with it!

After doing a setup with an 8 in my Si, I have found respect for the little speaker. I Dynmated the entire trunk in the Si and it allowed the 8 to have low end extension like a 10 but the only problem was that one 8 didn't have enough volume for me. I figured that 3 would probably put a
on my face. I another thing I like about 8's is their punchiness. I like more punch than boom in a system, more or less a sound quality setup and not you can here me 2 miles away. I was thinking about running JL's 6-4-tweeter setup for mids and run the Audio Control DQX for equalization and crossover. In the end it should be a good competition setup, which is my goal.
