Thumbs up Looking for new headunit. Need to work with iphone 4 and charge.

I am looking for a new headunit. I currently have an Eclipse headunit with an add on ipod box that wires to the back of the head unit. It does not charge my Iphone 4. It only charged my iphone when I had the 2g one a long time ago.

I am looking for a new headunit that is not TOO expensive. It needs to have the following features.

Iphone4 compatible to both play the ipod in it and charge the iphone when connected.

Must work with one of the wired DCI's out there for the factory controls.

Must have red illumination to match everything else is red lighting in my interior.

Don't have a particular brand I am looking for.

Any suggestions?

Don't want to spend too much at all. I have Infinity kapa component speakers and kenwood 10" sub and 4 channel amp.

nice! Thank you. So how does the iphone connect? Just a usb connection in the front? And it definitely charges it will connected?
I'll have to check this one out.

Is this the one you have?

Says it needs an additional connector for the ipod I guess right?

thats the one i have

it does charge and play the ipod

i was so amazed that if its in ipod mode.... once you connect phone, you pause the ipod music. open pandora, you can then skip to next track using HU knob thats the reason i am not worried with modifry tbh.

its wonderful if youre jailbroken and have pandora skip hack.

but all that is needed is the usb cable. i love how it works, i could not ask for more.

ps... maybe you can help me with this? https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/882...les-do-i-need/

i have the Alpine IDAX305S. Love it, sounds like it does everything you need. MSRP is a little high, but i found mine for about 200 locally. I just installed the DCI yesterday and it works except for mute, but ill figure that out later today.

can i trade you a shift knob for my awesome advice

I'm not expert, but I find that the red illumination on the Alpine iDA-X305S to be substandard. It seems that the buttons have some blue tint to them which compromises the red mode on mine.

When I change to red illumination, the lower bar on the display with the date and time remains blue. Is there something that you did to make it red?

JVC has great iPhone integration and hundreds of colors. When I was shopping 6 months ago they were much easier to use with an iPhone than Kenwood or Alpine. This is assuming you want to use the iPhone for control.

I'd get something with bluetooth and pull power from wherever. Bluetooth doesn't use that much battery and is alot easier than messing with a headphone cable.

with the new units you dont need the AUX cable. the 30 pin usb cable charges and plays music.
