I have found a used V1 in my price range. Is there anything that I should look for when purchasing this pre-owned?

I have a Passport Escort 8500 and I love it. I have a friend with the 9500 and I wish I would have waited for that one when I was buying. But for your price range both of these radars are out of your budget. Belltronics and Whistlers are ok but I still put Escorts above them and Corbra is a waste of money no matter which model you go with.

I wouldn't recommend taking the advice of a Cobra user.

Ask the seller for the serial. Confirm with VR that it isn't stolen and determine which revision it is (and whether or not it might benefit from an upgrade).

Again, refer to an RD specific resource.

It helps to post the why behind your choices. As I stated, RD's aren't one-size-fits-all. They why behind your decision will hlep others to determine if your reasons are relevant to them. Not everyone cares about arrows, not everyone cares about GPS or Truelock, etc.

Get the Serial number and run it on the valentine site to assure it hase the latest software, otherwise you might as well buy new.

I ended up buying a used V1. Very happy so far. Will update it in the near future.

The power cord seems to be in the way. How are you guys mounting the v1?

Windshield mount is going to be the most common but I would invest in a hardwire kit for it. This way you can hid all of the wiring and it still gives you a mute control button for when you want to silence the unit. One cool mounting option is putting it where the rear wind screen is. Not sure what all parts you need to install one there but I have seen it done. Another thing I would look out for is an "under the rearview mirror mount". I bought one a few months ago and I haven't been happy with it at all. The neck on out mirrors is tiny and even the smallest one they have (which they said would fit it) is not even close to making it a secure mount. I keep using "they" because I can't remember the company name but if I run across it again, I'll post it up.
