Default Lost & On a Budget

I'm hoping you guys can help me out to come up with a descent system for my car. I would like to spend no more than $600 for everything if possible.

I have an alpine 7893?? head unit so what else do I need? I'm considering a stealth box since it won't take away from trunk space, but what type of amp, and mid range speaker do I need and what brand will work??

I mostly listen to hip-hop if that helps any.

tks for suggestions.

JL Stealthbox? that is your entire budget just for that sub... go substantially cheaper and either make one yourself, look into an inexepensive high efficiency sub, or talk to William (WLaurent) about some sort of package.

what type of music do you generally listen to?
also, are you able to do the install yourself?
what kinds of volume are you looking to attain...

for the $600 range you can do a moderate system... for something that's just louder, do an inexpensive set of components, power them off the headunit, and install a sub from William and an amp for your sub. or you can go w/ a 4 channel amp to power the components and a Bazooka or other moderately priced sub.

$200 components (Focal Access or Infinity RS)
$150 Bazooka 10" EL-104 (should fit right in the well)
$200 Rockford Fosgate 301x (40Wrms x 4, 150Wrms x 2 : @ 4 ohms)
$50 for wiring and such....

not the highest sound quality system, and i'm completely shooting from the hip... but this is an example of what you can do for $600.

considering my haphazard picking and choosing, i would recommend investigating or considering other components before purchasing...

most of this gear can be found online for less than i've quoted here..

That's not true at all...especially if he already has a head unit

$600 is easy

$150 for CDT CL-61 at thezeb.com
$160 for E8a (or e12k) at edesignaudio.com
$190 for JBL 80.4 at sounddomain.com
$20 for wiring (Scosche kit at Walmart is actually very decent. I'm using everything but the power cables and fuses for home speakers )
Use the rest on a prefab box that fits somewhere...

Easy...

well... it all depends on priorities....

for me, an expensive but high quality sound system is a must in any car i'm going to spend substantial time in... for others... it's not so important, just being louder is enough....

just like for some people, spending $2k on a set of rims for the S is a must and justifiable expense... for me, it seems ludicrous when the stock rims look quite nice and are more than adequate for most purposes... i'd much rather spend that $2k on a paintball gun setup... most people consider that ludicrous... but for me, i was a very serious player at the time, and considered it a great investment...

and just because you can afford the S doesn't mean you can afford the world to go w/ it....

If you wouldn't call the stuff I recommended "nicer in quality" you must have never heard CDT comps or ED subs in person

As a reference, what would you call the "nicer in quality" brands?
