Default Lucid rear speaker

I was just looking at the lucid solution for installing rear speakers ( i looked at the S-pods but it hate the way they look from behind... looks odd i find.. whatever that's not the point of this post).

I was just wondering if i could fit an infinity kappa 50.7cs 5.25 2WAY COMPONENT speakers in there. I know that it just depends on the coil size (diameter) but i can't seem to find that info about these speakers.

This is really annoying as practically no sites give info on the size of coil....

I really want to get infininty speakers for the rear as i already have infinity kappa perfect 6.1s in front and i have a 12" VDQ (infinity) subwoofer in the back.

Can you guys please tell me if any infinity or which other models would fit into that tiny area.

Thanks,

Dave

You'll have to trim the metal behind the panel. I have Alpine SPX-137a's and I had to trim the metal to fit them into the car... but they fit

Are there any speakers that will allow you a "simple" plug and play... meaning that i just have to cut the plastic and not the frame behind the car to get them to fit?

I want something that will sound really godd.. i don't really care what brand it is..

Darkknight: Is there anything really horrible about trimming or filing the metal a bit? and can you recommend any tools/techniques for doing such?

i have polk EX 5.25" speakers and they fit in there.

If you have the seat pushed all the way back, the lucid solution doesn't add a whole lot. The volume differential between front and rear is substantial. I plan to get S-pods soon.

I had a similar custom thing in my old 91 miata. It sounded muffled....kinda like yelling into a pillow. I guess if you amp them, they would be fine. I like the S-pods a lot more.....more versatility. I realize they provide a bit of a problem when it comes ot imaging, but the fader and a different combination of WRMS running to them and the doors should (hopefully) eliminate this.

But....if you dont like the way they look.....

darkknight1999: going along with what sctyboy asked, how did you trim the metal? what tools did you use? and does it mess with the structural integrity of the car?

Thanks
Mike

I honestly just used a Dremel with a cutting wheel on it... broke about 10 of them doing it though. I didn't cut anything that would effect the safety of the car. I just cut away the little bit I had to and that was it. You could cut a lot more away and then reinforce again using tube bar bent around the whole but you really don't need to worry about that if you only trim a little bit.
I have pictures of it as I was doing it if you need to see them. It look rough but it works. I honestly don't think I took any of the finished product once I was done cutting and grinding but I can look and see if I did, I just remember because I did it like 3 years ago.
