Lucid, regarding rear speaker...
Lucid,
Is the main reason for using a 4" because of the abount of space for the magnet? How large is the magnet? Is it a depth issue? or a depth and width issue?
I am asking because if the problem is mainly due to mounting depth, you could look into speakers that use neodymium magnets. For example, Planet Audio's 5.25" two way has a mounting depth of only 1.75" where as their more convention units are well over 2" at 2 5/8".
Just thought that the larger speakers could help out with the lower end of the musical spectrum.
BTW they have an entire line of subs with the neodymium magnets with really small mounting depth. The 8" is only 2.25" and the 10" s 3.5".

Magnet width is the problem. Its a tight space! Pop off the panel and take a look. You could do a larger speaker, but you would have to cut metal - my guess equivalent to 11 gauge steel.
My panels will universally fit S2000s. Just a few simple tools and 30 mins - 1 hour and your good to go.

I'm sorry to be so dense, Lucid, but what are the best speakers to mount in your rear panels?
What do you sell the panels for again?
If I am running rears just from the head, should I route the rear speaker wires down under the center console?
If I add rear speakers to the front speaker xr600s and my Alpine 27 watt rms/channel head, will I get more loud and less mud?

Lucid,
Sorry to be lazy, I am sure this info is 'out there' somewhere but..........how much do you charge for a pair of custom panels? I assume (for a few $ more) shipping to UK is ok? (Are the panels identical mirror images of each other - there aren't any left hand drive / right hand drive issues are there?????
I will look for your reply in a couple of days 'cos I am about to leave office to drive to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix - Honda engines reving to 18,000 rpm - now that is a sweet noise!!!!!!
All the best
Ian

Barry : you are correct. You route wires under the carpet from the head unit to the panels. Connecting it to the rear lines of your Alpine is an excellent setup.
Prices I'm running start at (not including shipping) $100 ($80 if you exchange your rear panels). It all depends on the cost of the speakers.
I'm toying with the idea of having the grills color matched to the OEM paint of the car. I'll post an example of what I mean when I get back.
