route 66 is very promising. OS X native, Maps galore and:

"In combination with a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver, ROUTE 66 Route USA 2004 shows you your precise location on the map, which means you will never lose your way again."

Thanks an_other!

I'm not familiar with this software so it's hard for me to comment, but i'd love to see a mac with real time GPS/ NAVI. i'm sure we're not the only ones thinking about putting a mac mini in our cars.

ruy, did you still want pics of installs? I've seen two: a Lexus IS and a VW Jetta. I'd have to dig around for the links and pics. Let me know.

flitcroft,
i'd love to see them. I might use this in my minivan. I haven't installed a dvd player yet, and this could be my ultimate solution. Especially if there is a good Navi app for the mac.

I also have plans for a Mac Mini install in my S2000. I'll give an update when I get started. Macs Rule.

Totally, that Vdub is GOR-GE-OUS. That guy should finish the rest of his dash in that awesome brushed metal. And HU in the roof? That's killer. If VW made this an option there's no way they could make it better -- it'd cost so much money to create all those machine parts. Check out that car's link. There's a few more paragraphs of info on the site.

There's also a Land Rover with a Mac Mini that you can Google, but the install is ugly as sin with wires and components chucked any which way. I'll post more if I see them.
