Hand made in germany is just marketing crap. Focals are made in france, and have the strictest serial number tracking of any car audio manufacturer....SO WHAT!???

If I were to spend the big bucks, Id do focal. If you want, also check out rainbow, and brax. Now those are handmade in germany and worth looking at

I agree totally with PJK. I personally dislike how "bright" the MB Quart titanium tweeters are. All the people I know that have focal love them. I almost bought a set but decided to stay in my budget and keep my Koves. Good luck

and yes -- i personally really don't like MB Quart speakers, even though i recognize that many people do... i find them excessively and unnaturally bright... painfully so in fact.

but my point was -- don't buy based on marketing junk. purchase based on what they sound like and how they appeal to you, after all you are buying AUDIO gear.

It's not even a competition. Focals are great stuff, MB Quart is overpriced junk (sorry if I offend people); BUT (and here's the big butt) some people like the way one speaker sounds better than another. Some people may like the Sony Xplod stuff over all of the above because it's all about listening style and all personal hearing opinion.

Ok, I figured that this would be a great thread for this debate: AMPS

We all know quart makes good speakers, and some of us have been lucky enough to hear focals, but what do we use to power such beauties? HMM? here's a few amps I've been looking at what are your thoughts s2ki gurus? What's missing from this list.

Autotek stealth series : (1) XS-900.2 for sub XS-900.4 for components
http://www.millenniumaudio.com/stealth.htm

Xtant X604
http://www.xtant.com/html/products/x604.cfm

JL Audio e4300
http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/e4300.html

Phoniex Gold OCTANE-R 5.0:4 OCTANE-R 4.0:2 for sub
http://www.phoenixgold.com/octane_r2/amplifiers.asp

Also I've been looking for a ten inch sub to fit a custom made box. The opening is 9 3/16. The original woofer was an Alpine. I've found that elemental designs e10Kx.44 / x.14 http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep2/10kx.htm and Polk Audio MM 2104 & MM 1104 are close matches. Any thoughts on this?

Given money and space constraints, I'm just trying to build the best system possible.

100%

Although, in your example both would be better.

OF COURSE it depends on my own tastes, but I posted because I want to hear other opinions. Ultimately I will test the stuff before I purchase, duh, but where should i start?

I can't find a local audio shop that carries all these amps or speakers. I've heard quite a few and many left impressions (good or bad) and I just wanted to hear what you guys have to say.

Car audio is tricky because the acoustics are different for each vehicle. I know that the s2k doesn't have the same acoustics as my Odyssey so I won't expect the same quality of sound. But I do want good sound, so what sounds good in a S2K?
