I decided to do this over the weekend. I purchased a pair of Infinity 4x6. They are more of a component 4" and tweeter combination. The overall sound was lacking and thought about the hoop mounted speakers, but didn't like the speakers to be right at my ears. The other option was the 5 1/4", behind the seat, but it seemed like a lot of work. So the speakers behind the vents was my decision. I used a baffle because it gave the speaker more low end. I tried it without the baffle and the sound was not as full. Even though the baffle did not fit perfectly, it worked. To install the speakers, I had to cut 2 slits in the metal bar and used a hammer to bend it back. I did not realize how huge the magnet was when I purchased the speakers, but they barely fit after the slight mod. I used one screw and the corner of the panel to hold the speaker in place. As for the panel, I used my cut off wheel to shave down the vents. My other option would be to cut the vents and install speaker grill fabric, but I like the way this looks. These are hooked up to an Alpine 4 channel amp. This gives me the option to phase the speakers a bit, because the sound was more pronounced than my front speakers. Though the speakers are behind the seat, they sound great!
