Modifry DCI question...
Hey guys-
I installed an Alpine CDA-9851 last week with the Modifry DCI. Where on the unit is the IR receiver? I cannot seem to find one. When the radio door and the top are down on any kind of a sunny day, the HU does not pick up the IR signals. I am not sure if this is just inherent with the design or if I can place the IR emitter in a better location (now its in the middle of the HU poking out of the top). Also, the CH button no longer changes the CD tracks. Was this function lost because of the design of the alpine and its signals, or did I screw up a wire in the install process?
Thanks
John

the Alpine manual should actually show (somewhere in there) where the IR receiver is... give it a good scan through, it's usually in the section on using the remote control.
for the newer series, i believe it's located just to the right and a little above the volume knob.
that being said, i'm generally able to use the DCI with the transmitter essentially hidden from view. it generally works even in sunlight (only sometimes rarely does it not work in direct afternoon sunlight). try various orientations for the emitter and see if that helps.
finally -- CD tracks are now: hold down big audio button, while volume + and - to choose tracks up and down. MP3 folders or CD changer discs are: hold down CH button, while volume + and - to folder/disc up and down.

I have a 9851 with the DCI. I have the emitter positioned on the top of the HU, just barely poking out. If you look on the face of the HU, you can see the word "Title" printed on there, for the title button. Duh. Anyways, I have my emitter just above the "E" in TITLE. And that spot works flawlessly for me.
thanks guys. I might just end up wiring it to the interior of the little door. That way if the door is down, it is facing the unit, and when up, it will still be facing the unit. Should take like 10 secs. to do. I am installing my sub and map tonight....box finally comes in today.
Anyone know where I can pick up an extra screw for the driver's side door handle trim? The one I am using does not fit anymore....I think it is the wrong screw. I think Honda should have a few lying around. I will call them later today. Anyone know the length / thread?
Thanks
