The DCI interfaces with your head unit. It has nothing to do with the speakers directly. It will control functions of your head unit as described on Modifrys website (modifry.com).

The volume button, for example, will raise the volume on the head unit, just as if you turned the knob (or punched the buttons) yourself.

Yes...if the HU mutes all 4, the Modifry will also mute all 4. I have the Alpine 9851, and it kills everything....front, rear, and sub.

essentially, the DCI mimics the IR remote that came w/ your HU (except for the mute, which will vary depending on the brand of HU).

otherwise, if that IR remote does it... the DCI will as well. the DCI generally mimics the volume up/down, track forward/back, folder forward/back, CD changer disc forward/back, etc. features off the remote....

Thanks, everyone. I know it sounded like a stupid question but someone told me that I should write when I ordered it that I wanted it to control front and rear speakers....

i have the wired one for my sony. it works great. btw, you can adjust the fade and balance with button combos using the dash controls with the dci. is that what you're asking?

On some head units, "mute" is actually "attenuate" so you will not get true no-sound-mute hitting the mute button. This is not a Modifry issue, but just the way each HU responds to the command.

There WAS an issue "way back" when folks were adding rear speakers to their 00 and 01 cars that the OEM mute would not mute the added rears w/o extra wiring.

Yep, just got it put in and is is awesome! I LOVE the CD skip forward and back feature.

Minor minor thing for the wish list.....with the stock HU, when you UNmuted, the level would fade up nicely to where it was. Now it is a little more abrupt, but this is a VERY small item.

Thanks to Modifry for a great product!

The mute function on the DCI just uses the mute on your DCI via the telephone mute wire. Blame the head unit manufacture for no adding a smooth volume ramp on unmute

and depending on the manufacturer of the HU, there are sometimes different ways to connect the mute. for example, i know Alpine can either use the cell phone interrupt which is immediate and 100% w/ a pause or the IR/HU mute, which isn't 100% silent, and does fade up.
