If someone can 3d print a block of plastic that matches contour of dash, just right of gauge pod, and presents a flat surface to mount a tablet or a modular hu like this, it'd be a huge hit. Something that looks like it could have been factory. Doesn't require dash cutting. Would double stick tape to dash. Use really thick tape so its easier to slice through with fishing wire without dash damage if you want to remove it. Basically design it to facilitate removal.
Should be angled a bit to point to driver, and place device closer to driver than the dash cut bezel options do.
It could be one design, that facilitates multiple device options. Basically a flat surface, with a center opening for wiring, and some keyhole type slots for mounting stuff.
Then people could create bezels to mount into those keyholes for specific devices. A generic platform to mount any tablet like device.
Get a ribbon cable usb that can easily sneak behind dash bezel, which would be mostly hidden behind whatever device is mounted.
I found a 10 year old blog post that has a bracket/trim piece appearing to be for mounting on the dash without cutting. Another link from a random auction that has a few pictures of a similar looking mount.
There's also the "display pod" for the NA1/2 NSX that has vents built in. It would likely require cutting the dash but it would fit the double din screen. Also not sure if the angle would be ok for the screen and vents on the S2k, there's a duct adapter available but it's for the NSX. Who knows, the NSX rear view mirror mount is the same or extremely close to the S2k so maybe could make it work somehow.
Found a post on a GTR forum of someone who's installed this headunit. There are some decent pictures of the side/back on the screen to give you an idea of depth, etc.

I saw that as well, thought the install looked awful though.
I'm still trying to figure out a way of doing this. One thought is to hack up a spare radio door I have to see if I can make that work. I need to measure the radio door and see if it'll work though.
7" monitor on the modifry mount isn't sitting well with me and I think it'll look out of place/goofy. I'd prefer something a bit more stealth looking.

Agreed, the install looks like it could use some TLC. I haven't seen many pictures online of the side/mounting depth so this was helpful to get an idea of what it actually looks like.
This mount says it's for the 5500 but the 5700 would fit too. If you could get the small brackets to mount on the dash this could work. It covers the back of the unit as well and has a little opening for the screen cable to plug in. Hiding the cable would be the challenge I guess.
