Monster iCruze update
As I posted before, I was helping Monster test out the iCruze on the S2000 (and I assume other Honda models).
After more than 6 months of back-and-forth unit testing I emailed them to ask about any forthcoming versions to test because of some problems with the latest version of their software.
Monster told me that there will be no more further updates and the only options are to keep what I have or refund me for my unit. So the unit goes back.
Here is the latest list of bugs in the iCruze:
1. Skipping songs sometimes does not work, up to 10 times in a row not working.
2. Skip sometimes is read as "fast forward" (this is only if you use the radio, not the dash controls)
3. iCruze "locks up" when presented with an empty playlist (older versions).
4. If you are on folder 3 song 40 and disconnect and resync your ipod such that folder 3 has less than 40 songs, the iCruze locks up.
5. If you are on folder 6 and resync so that you only have 5 folders... yup, iCruze locks up.
6. LCD display cannot handle "moderate" amounts of heat in the car interior. I've had a unit fail at 10AM on a semi-sunny day with temps in the mid-70's.
7. Misc buggyness. Odd lockups and loss of control of the iPod fall into this category. These are rare (though one happend to me this morning) and require disconnecting and plugging in of the iCruze to get it working again. (Most problems can be solved by disconnecting and reconnecting the iCruze).
This is a total shame because the iCruze had so much potential, sounded great, and only required a screwdriver for pulling out the headunit to install the thing - no cutting, tapping, grounding or splicing required.

I don't know anything about the iCruze, but being a software developer, some of those bugs are just sad, and should have been able to be fixed in a heartbeat. Oh well, sorry it didn't work out.
Too bad Monster couldn't have contacted you first instead of making you contact them about them discontinuing the product.

I don't know if the iCruze is dead, just that there aren't any more fixes in the pipeline. What I do know is that many of the retailers that carried it no longer do.
