Default Motorized faceplate in S2000?

I saw another member had the headunit I'm looking to buy in the for sale forum.

I'm looking at the Pioneer DEH-P9600MP or 8400 units... they have the motorized face and it looks like it may hit the black plastic trim.

Anyone care to comment?

I seriously doubt it would fit and flip unimpeded, but i don't have a rotating face in my S and I don't know which radio you are looking at so I can't be sure.

Although I have never used this headunit, from the looks of it, I would say 90% no, it will not fit.

Do you mean hit when you close the door or do you mean with the door open? To give you an idea, I have the top model clarion hu from about 4 years ago in my01 with a thick motorized faceplate and the door barely closes.

No, I mean when I push the button to flip down the face... will it hit the plastic surround?

Our stereos are kind of "sunk" in there, it seems like when it tried to flip down at that angle it may hit?

Do you think I (and others) have cut a big hole in our dash for the fun of it It WILL NOT clear the curve of the dash...and if it did you would bash the screen shifting into 3rd,5th (assuming you drive with emphasis!)

I was going to purchase this same headunit, when I started out.

I called the manufacturer and they could not answer whether it would fit. They referred me to Crutchfield's catalog, and even though the catalog said it would fit, it also said several tv's fit our vehicle, so I knew that info was not too trustworthy.

Well I finally verified it would not fit, I went to several shops in my area, and two of them stated that they tried installing the same radio and when the face comes down and out it hit the plastic.

I ended up going with the DEH 860 Premier. Great radio , a little bit less in price and same exact features, check it out.
