I mounted mine against the back wall just as xmatt did, is it natural for an amp to get pretty hot back there considering there isnt any ventalation and the truck seems to soak up exhaust heat??

Yeah, mine gets pretty damn hot. Normal? I dunno. But me too. I think it's having to work pretty hard to get that sub moving as much as I prefer.

Hey Mikes2k, in your trunkdone.jpg, it looks like the carpet fills in more than what is cut on your MDF board. (In the previous picture, it looks like you had about 3 or 4 inches above the amp, but in the finished carpeted shot, it looks like it goes all the way to the top of the trunk??) Did you add another piece of MDF to fill the gap? TIA. Dave

The carpet is just glued and rolled into the trunk lip. No other MDF was used.

I'm having a problem of my amp getting too hot and shutting down.
What have you guys done to avoid this? I've thought about putting a 12V fan blowing directly on the amp.

wow, i need so much more information on this, i don't even know where to start.

i'll say this much though - if the entire trunk airspace is full of hot air - no amount of moving that air around will help cool anything. you either need to get the heat out or get cool air in.
